Circle of Love 'Hustle for Help

Dancers from all over the country are preparing for this year's New York Hustle Congress, now in it's sixth year.

.......................................................................................................................

On Saturday evening, a popular charity event called 'Circle of Love' is held at the New York Hustle Congress. The professional leaders and followers attending the event make a circle and the dancers contribute to a cause and get to rotate in the circle and dance with them. Last year's charity was for animal rescue and was called 'Hustle for the Hounds' and attendees are still buzzing about how they got to dance with Pasha and Anna who were starring in the Broadway show 'Burn the Floor' and Tony Meredith, Melanie LaPatin and Eddie Simon, choreographers from the hit show "So You Think You Can Dance' and Luis Salgado. Because of a personal family issue, this year, the popular charity event Circle of Love on Saturday Night will be called 'Hustle for Help'. The purpose will be to raise awareness and to fight stigma associated with disorders of the brain, your bodies most important organ. These illnesses include:

1 in 6 adults and almost 1 in 10 children suffer from a diagnosable mental illness. Yet, for many, the stigma associated with the illness, can be as great a challenge as the disease itself. Many people in the dance community have or know a friend or loved one that is suffering in silence from one of these disorders.

One of the best ways you can help someone with mental illness is by understanding what it is – and what it isn't. After all, myths about mental illnesses contribute to stigma, which often prevents those who are living with it from seeking help. Most importantly, mental illnesses are treatable through medication and psychosocial therapies – allowing those who suffer from them the opportunity to lead full and productive lives.

Thank you for continuing to help contribute to these causes.

Sincerely,
Lori Brizzi
